Carbon Beach in Malibu California

Carbon Beach is near the middle of Malibu, which -- combined with its excellent, dry-sand beach -- means that the 70-residence Carbon Beach neighborhood is one of the highest valued in Southern California.  Several of the original lots in the area have been purchased and merged together to create mansions designed by leading architects.  

Despite its central location, the beach is relatively private, due to having only two public access roads.  While the Pacific Coast Highway runs close to the beach, many of the landowners have taken steps to insulate against the noise.
